John is a 21-year-old man with Down Syndrome that has evolved his love of wearing fun, crazy socks into a business. John decided he wanted to go into business with his father and came up with the idea of selling socks on-line. Since launching his website in December of 2016, John’s Crazy Socks has taken off. His sales have grown from $14,700 in December to $350,000 in March and it’s still growing!
Part of the charm of his business is his personal touches. If the sale is local, John will personally deliver the order. If the order is further away, John sends a handwritten thank-you note along with some candy. He also gives 5% of his profits to the Special Olympics, which is his other passion. John has competed in snowshoe, basketball, track, soccer, floor hockey and bowling Special Olympics events.
John is not just the face of the company, he has real responsibilities and works hard every day. John attends trade events, speaks with customers and suppliers, assembles packages, delivers local orders and creates videos for the company’s Facebook page.
John is a true inspiration and a success story.
