Nathan Simons is the first full-time employee at Boston Children’s Hospital with Down Syndrome. He first started working in the Down Syndrome program part-time. But then it was his high-energy and how well he was able to follow directions that moved the hospital to offer him a job there full-time.
Though Nathan is excited to be working there, the hospital staff feels equally as lucky to have him as an employee. “He comes to work each day with enthusiasm and provides inspiration and optimism for families with Down syndrome and they look at Nate and see what is possible,” Dr. Nicole Baumer said. Nathan does everything from administrative duties to interacting with families.
