A woman with Down Syndrome has achieved her dream of becoming a weather presenter following a Facebook campaign supported by tens of thousands of people.
Mélanie Ségard, 21, has been offered the chance to present the weather on two news channels after challenging French broadcasters to take her on if she gained 100,000 likes on her page, ‘Mélanie peut le faire’, or ‘Mélanie can do it’.
Mélanie Ségard will appear on two French weather programs after she was able to double her target within just a few days. More than 204,000 people have liked the page and her video has been viewed over 3.1 million times. She’ll go live on both national channel France 2 and BFMTV on March 27.
Ms Ségard said: “I am different, but I would like to show everyone that I can do plenty of things. I want to prove it by appearing on TV,” the Telegraph reported.
According to The Telegraph, Ségard will be France’s first-ever weather presenter with Down Syndrome. Presenting the weather has been a life-long dream for Mélanie and it is coming true.
